Ranked mode: not yet, but the rating already exists

There is no ladder to climb on screen, and there is absolutely a rating deciding who you play. Here is the verified state of competitive Strikers Club, and what the developer has signaled about where it goes.

The short answer: no visible ranked mode exists as of July 19, 2026.No ladder, no rank badges, no placement matches. What exists instead is skill-based matchmaking: ten days before launch, v0.79.0 added a hidden matchmaking rating, described in the patch notes as creating “a more skill-based environment with fair matches,” with the stats “available for you to see at a later time.” Your hidden matchmaking rating is real; a visible rank ladder is not confirmed yet.

What SBMM does in the current build

The v0.79.0 matchmaking section is unusually concrete for launch-week patch notes, and it covers the behaviors that competitive players ask about first:

BehaviorCurrent rule
Match qualityA hidden rating builds lobbies of similar skill; it exists only for matchups today
Leaving a matchRecorded as a loss, behind a confirmation popup so it cannot happen by accident
Requeueing after leavingYou will not be backfilled into the same match you abandoned
Joining as backfillYou are notified in chat and do not take a loss if the game is lost
Full opposing team leavesYour team wins by forfeit rather than the match being scored a draw
One-sided gamesThe mercy rule ends matchmaking games automatically at a five-goal difference

Two honest expectations follow. First, the player pool is days old, so the rating has little data on anyone; stomps in both directions are normal while placement sorts itself out, as the beginner guide warns. Second, because ratings are invisible, there is currently no way to verify your progress except the quality of your lobbies slowly changing. If your matches feel harder, that is the system working.

The official signal on where this goes

The competitive future is pitched directly on the official site:

Build your community and rise through the competitive ranks. Create or join clubs, recruit players, and forge a legacy.

Read alongside the hidden rating, the shape is clear: clubs plus competitive ranks is the stated destination, and the SBMM shipped at launch is the plumbing for it. What has not been announced is any date, format, or whether ranks will be individual, club-based, or both; we do not speculate beyond the sources. Demand is visibly there, with launch-week Steam reviews explicitly asking for a ranked mode, some adding wishlist items like queueing for a specific position. Every patch lands on our updates page, and a ranked ladder would be the headline the day it arrives.

How to prepare for ranked before it exists

The hidden rating means you are already being measured, and habits compound. Organized play is massively undervalued in the current meta: pick a role and hold shape (the positions guide), learn the passing that public lobbies refuse to, and build a regular five through the official Discord, since premade coordination is the single biggest edge available. Sketch your shapes on the tactics board now; when a ladder ships, teams with rehearsed structure will start ahead of the queue.

Quick answers

Does Strikers Club have a ranked mode?

Not yet. As of July 19, 2026 there is no visible ranked ladder, rank badges, or placement matches in the Early Access build. Matchmaking is skill-based behind the scenes: v0.79.0 (July 7) added a hidden matchmaking rating, and the official site describes rising through competitive ranks with clubs as the long-term vision.

Does Strikers Club have SBMM?

Yes. The v0.79.0 patch notes state a matchmaking rating was added to create a more skill-based environment with fair matches. The rating is currently hidden and only used to build matchups.

Can you see your rank or MMR in Strikers Club?

No. The developer says these stats will be available for you to see at a later time. For now the rating only shapes who you play against.

Is there a penalty for leaving matches in Strikers Club?

Yes. Since v0.79.0, leaving a matchmaking game is recorded as a loss and triggers a confirmation popup. You are not backfilled into the match you left, and players who join a game as backfill do not receive a loss if that game is lost.

When is ranked coming to Strikers Club?

No date has been announced. The official site pitches competitive ranks and clubs as part of the game's future, and the hidden rating shipped a week before launch looks like the foundation. We track every patch on our updates page and will document a ranked ladder the day it ships.
