The character editor, slot by slot

From random assigned footballers in early playtests to a full appearance editor at launch. Every slot below is verified from patch notes and store material, with the version that proves it.

Early playtesters did not choose their look; the game assigned a random character each session, with customization promised for later. It arrived in Playtest 5 (May 2026) and matured fast: v0.78.0 added item previews and the ability to rotate your character by dragging across the screen, v0.79.0 brought the color system, and v0.80.2 rebuilt the purchase flow inside the appearance menu. The launch press release summarizes the scope as jerseys, shorts, gloves, shoes, and accessories to make your striker yours.

Verified cosmetic slots

This table lists only slots and items we can pin to official material, with color-channel behavior from the v0.79.0 palette documentation where known:

Body types exist too: a v0.82.0 fix note mentions a ponytail clipping issue on one of the body types, confirming multiple body options without documenting how many. The full count, and any face controls beyond eyebrows, are on our in-game verification list.

The slots that were removed

The developer prunes as well as adds. v0.78.0 removed four slots because they lacked visibility during actual play: mouth, chest tattoo, back tattoo, nail polish. It is a small detail that says a lot about the design philosophy, cosmetics exist to be seen at gameplay camera distance, not in menus.

Colors come from palettes

Every slot above draws colors from the two-palette system introduced in v0.79.0: Hair palettes cover hairstyle, facial hair, and eyebrows, while Item palettes cover everything else, with up to three channels per item. The system deserves its own page, and has one: color palettes explained. The short version is that natural colors are free, expressive ranges are paid, and jerseys always keep team colors dominant so nobody mistakes an opponent for a teammate.

Goalkeeper looks

Keepers got dedicated attention: goalie kits with distinct colors arrived in the June demo (v0.74.1) so the keeper always reads differently from outfielders, and v0.80.2 added the first named goalie glove cosmetics, Deflects and Sweeper. If you main the position, the goalkeeper controls page covers what actually matters between the posts.

Identity beyond clothing

Two systems finish the look. Jersey numbers became customizable in v0.80.2. And the title system from v0.79.0 puts unlockable text under your name, sourced from supporter packs, community event wins, and more, with title colors getting their own polish pass in v0.80.2. Both render at nameplate distance, which, given the visibility philosophy above, is exactly why they exist.
