Jersey numbers, claim yours

Three days before launch, v0.80.2 added the feature every football player checks for first: your number on your back. Here is what is confirmed about it and what we are still testing.

Number customization is a launch-window addition. The v0.80.2 patch notes of July 14 list it plainly, added the ability to customize your jersey number, in the same update that reworked penalties and rebuilt the purchase flow. It reached everyone with the July 17 Early Access release. Small feature, big identity payoff: in a game where every player is a human with a persistent look, the number is how teammates recognize you at pitch distance.

Numbers and the team-color rule

The palette system explains why numbers stay readable. Jerseys accept only a detail color, since primary and secondary are reserved for team identity; the number lives in that always-contrasting team kit, so your 10 reads clearly whether your side is home or away that match. It is a tidy example of the developer’s one hard cosmetic rule, team association stays clear, applied to typography. The full channel system is on the color palettes page.

Culture: pick a number that means something

Football numbers carry roles. Nine leads the line, ten creates, one keeps goal, and in a game with real position play, wearing a number that matches your job is genuinely useful social signaling in solo queue. Nobody can enforce it, this is quickplay with strangers, but a keeper in 1 who actually plays keeper sets expectations faster than chat ever will. Your number plus a distinctive look and a title is how squads start remembering you.

How this page stays honest

Jersey numbers are a feature many wikis would pad with invented menus and fake number limits. Everything above traces to the v0.79.0 and v0.80.2 patch notes and the launch press release, and the open questions are labeled as open. When the verification pass closes them, the answers appear here, dated.
